MIT professor Dr. Robert Langer was recently named a Kyoto Symposium Prize Laureate in Advanced Technology. The Kyoto Symposium Organization awards three prestigious awards in Basic Science, Advanced Technology, and Art. On Wednesday, March 18th, 10-11:30am Dr. Langer will be giving his Advanced Technology presentation in Montezuma Hall. Later that day Dr. Edward Mitten will be giving the Basic Sciences presentation at UCSD 3:30-5pm. The events are free for all attendees but please register so they know how many people will attend.
MAES will be hosting a Science Extravaganza presented by the Navy and they need volunteers! Volunteer to expose 300 high school students to the wonders of STEM. Also enjoy free lunch, t-shirts, and tickets for a volunteer raffle! The event will be on Saturday October 18th 8:30am-3pm on the San Diego State Campus.
The Del Mar Mud Run 5k is back at the historic Del Mar Fairgrounds for the 5th consecutive year. We have the fun opportunity of being a part of this event while raising funds for our organization as well! We will be volunteers helping at the different stations along the route. The more volunteers we have attend for our group the larger the donation! Plus you get an awesome volunteer shirt to roll around in the mud with. This event is on Saturday, October 4th from 6 am to 12 pm. When signing up please mention you're with 'SWE' in the comment box.
Our first meeting of the semester will be on Thursday, September 11th at 6:30 pm in Aztec Student Union Room 212 (Tehuanco)! Join us for Pita Pit, ice breakers, and tons of information about the Society of Women Engineers. Come to meet other engineers and learn about the various ways to get involved, outreach opportunities, and events for this semester!
