We are a global product technology leader seeking a Process Engineer our San Diego, CA manufacturing facility located in Kearny Mesa. SUMMARY: Under general supervision, the Process Engineer is responsible for process improvement and implementation of process controls to continually improve manufacturing process and quality of final product. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Develops, implements and maintains methods, operation sequence and processes in the manufacture of final product. Works with managers or higher-level engineers to conduct studies on yield issues and improvements. Creates work instructions and other associated process documentation following documented procedures. Makes sure that all production personnel correctly understand all new processes or any changes in processes. Networks with other department personnel (including other engineers and supervisors) to tackle procedural and quality issues that are related to the production and delivery of good quality product. Other duties as assigned. SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: Good knowledge of math, material science, mechanical or electrical engineering. Good working knowledge of AutoCAD, machine programming, lean six sigma tools, ECN’s and associate procedures. Must be computer literate, to include use of Word, Excel and SAP. Good interpersonal skills as well as written and verbal communication skills are required. Hands-on, independent thinker, and capable of handling flexible working schedule. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Requires B.S. degree in engineering. 2-4 years of mechanical engineering or manufacturing engineering experience is preferred. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, and will regularly be required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. Eyesight is also important for the use of microscopes. WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally be exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee spends usually half of his/her time on the manufacturing floor and the other half at a desk in a standard office environment. The noise level in the work environment varies from noisy from machine sounds to quiet. The employee may have to occasionally (less than 50%) visit KMX facility in Mexico.
