Major/Year:
Civil Engineering, 4th Year
Email:
swesdsueventscoordinator@gmail.com
Hometown:
San Diego, CA
Internship/Job Experience:
Engineering Intern at Dokken Engineering
What made you choose your major?:
Construction of Public Works wouldn't be possible if it wasn't for the advancement of Civil Engineering and the solutions they've created to make modern living possible. The task of finding solutions to problems is what I'm always pushing for.
How has SWE impacted you?:
SWE provides a safe space and community for all women in engineering which is necessary in a male-dominated environment. Only 24% of engineers are women which makes it especially important to find your own space which is what SWE has given me. Hopefully it can do the same for you!

What made you choose your major?:
Math and Science were always my favorite subjects, especially when related to the medical field. I want to work on upgrading or finding new technologies to improve people’s quality of life.
How has SWE impacted you?:
SWE keeps me motivated. It’s easy to become discouraged in this male dominated field but I am so grateful to have a group of supportive women who uplift each other daily. I only wish to provide the same support to other women pursuing engineering so we can all thrive together.

Email:
swesdsupublicity@gmail.com
Hometown:
San Diego, CA
Internship/Job Experience:
Co-Op Manufacturing Engineer at Werfen
What made you choose your major?:
I picked engineering because I want to use my interest in STEM to help people and impact society in a positive manner. I chose the emphasis in bioengineering as the solutions created make a direct impact on the community for generations to come. This field shapes societies and creates innovation to inspire young people to achieve new heights. I have always grown up to give back to society and by using my engineering knowledge, I can do so.
How has SWE impacted you?:
SWE has allowed me to reshape my perspective on the engineering world. For a long time, the industry has been a male dominated field. However, through organizations like SWE, there is a support system for women and underrepresented people to elevate and motivate each other. I hope to one day inspire other people of color to consider engineering, especially women of color.

How has SWE impacted you?:
I joined SWE the first semester of my freshman year and I think every engineering woman should. We have so many speakers and members just in the club that are so uplifting and help encourage me to be the best I can during my journey to becoming an engineer.
