I really enjoy problem solving! Civil engineering is also versatile which allows me to pursue many career options.
How has SWE impacted you?
SWE has exposed me to many fun networking opportunities and connected me to other women with similar goals as me.
What if you could go back in time to a specific event? Where/when would you go and what would you do?
I would go back in time to see the Woodstock music festival.

I am currently interning AECOM in the San Diego Transportation group.
What made you choose Engineering?

I love math & art/design, & Ive always been super interested in buildings, so I figured civil engineering is the perfect blend of all that.
How has SWE impacted you?

SWE has given me a great community of strong smart women. I love that we can go to each other for advice, internship opportunities, and simply to hang out with friends.
What if you could go back in time to a specific event? Where/when would you go and what would you do?
I would love to have been at the final game in the world series in either 2010, 2012, or 2014, when the Giants won the world series! I’m a huge SF Giants fan and watched all those games on TV but I think it would have been so awesome to be there in person.

What made you choose Engineering?
I chose engineering because I want to create tangible solutions to real-world issues. I also like how this field is constantly changing and evolving; there will always be something to improve on.
How has SWE impacted you?
It’s awesome to have a group of people who not only relate to how you feel, but also understand your struggles. SWE provides many opportunities in the engineering field, and has helped me become more future-focused.
What if you could go back in time to a specific event? Where/when would you go and what would you do?
Probably to Ancient Rome just to sight see.

Internship/ job experience:
Test Lab Intern at Victory Innovations
What made you choose Engineering?
I choose engineering because I love math and physics and the way they work together. I have always been fascinated with the way that planes fly, cars run, and structures are built.
Favorite thing about SWE?
SWE has provided me a group of people who all relate to one another and can understand each other. Also, SWE has provided not only ways for me to grow professionally, but as an individual.
What if you could go back in time to a specific event? Where/when would you go and what would you do?
I would go back to the first Olympics and try to participate in it.

Internship/ Job Experience
Mechanical Engineering Intern during Summer 2021 at D&K Engineering
What made you choose Engineering?
This major has the power to rethink and shape the future. When I chose it, I was most excited to see how it would change my perspective and become a better problem solver.
Favorite thing about SWE?
There is a significant lower number of women in engineering, this club has given me a community who understands what I am going through. Networking, outreach and amazing conversations, SWE is the perfect club to support any woman in STEM. It is critical to know you are not alone and ask for help. :)
What if you could go back in time to a specific event? Where/when would you go and what would you do?
My default is to be busy and complacent. A lot of my life was stuck in a whirlwind of what's next, I would go back in time to any moment with my grandma when she was alive and smell the roses.

SWE is the first organization I joined on campus, it helped me get acquainted with people and get involved. I have been a member since freshman year and made a few friends, it was a nice community to be a part of during the pandemic as well!

Ancient Egypt to save the library of Alexandria

Internship/
job experience
I don't have any STEM related job experiences yet, but I have worked at In-N-Out, Target and Starbucks!
What made you choose Engineering?
I chose civil engineering because I've always had an intrigue with the built environment around us. Civil Engineers create the buildings, roads and bridges (+more) we use everyday! It's fulfilling to know that in the future, I'll have an impact on my community for the better.
Favorite thing about SWE?
SWE has impacted me to get out of my comfort zone, meet other girls in STEM, and have more confidence in what I want to do in the future. It's inspiring to see other women in the engineering world and to know that it's not as intimidating as it seems :)
What if you could go back in time to a specific event? Where/when would you go and what would you do?
I would go back to the night of JonBenét Ramsey's murder to clear up the mystery as to who killed her. Because...the brother most definitely did it.
